DO MORE THAN MEET PEOPLE

Loneliness is real—especially in Atlanta—and with nearly 30% of Black women living alone, this trend is only growing faster. And let’s not forget the fact that the pandemic intensified feelings of isolation among Black women. These numbers don’t even  include Black women who were not part of these formal studies and observations, dramatically increasing the likelihood that many more Black women are silently battling loneliness and isolation.

Free To Be Collective is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization established as a solution to the loneliness epidemic among Black women. But this isn’t just about feeling connected—it’s about tackling the deeper issues that lead to loneliness.

OUR PARTNERS

Free To Be Collective partners with like-minded businesses that believe in the transformative power of community.

WHAT WE DO

  • Free To Be Collective proudly partners with small Black-owned businesses to bring more visibility to their work and provides network discounts that can include promotions, collaborating on events, and giveaways.

Partnerships often form organically through our events, and we put A LOT of thought into who we choose to work with and how it appeals to our collective.

We love to keep it local and partner with businesses operating at a similar scale, but we don’t box ourselves in. If you share our commitment to authenticity, inclusivity, and connection, we’re here for it!

  • From pole classes, pottery, and adult field days, to candle making, open mics, and more - we’ve got you covered on events! We invite you to join us at our low-cost and free events that are curated for a good time and to meet new people while trying a new hobby or expressing your talents through an outlet that you already love.

Remember those childhood hobbies that feel forgotten because adulting got in the way? Let’s bring them back to life! Exploring hobbies with others not only helps us reconnect with our inner child, but allows us to put our guard down and truly show up as ourselves to connect with people who accept us.

Free To Be events cater to diverse interests and age groups. Some of our events attract over 100 attendees, but if that’s not your style, we also host smaller, more intimate gatherings.

If you want to see your interest(s) come to life through an event - just hit us up!

  • Through our platforms, we share resources and support to keep our community strong and thriving. Resources include Free To Be’s Discord server, career development resources, and our newsletter.

Our Discord server focuses on intentional and ongoing relationship building, It is a thoughtfully curated online space designed to further extend the conversations you have in person and provide other meaningful support. You can suggest new topics or hop into a voice channel to keep the conversations flowing. It’s your space to connect, express, and thrive in a supportive online environment.
